as with all shimano products this is a first class reel,very smooth and reliable,i use mine extensively for float fishing and i can throughly recommend one andrew fox

What rod have you got ? Not that it matters too much but that reel will certainly do a great job for you. If you have small hands consider the 2000 range instead but as with most Shimanos it'll do a...

Deano,have a sahara im using on my fox 1.75 barbel rod,its a "Brilliant" reel,nice and light,good action,and the fighting clutch is "i find" better to use ,than say my baitrunner,and think i paid...

I have the 4000 and find it great, but after 2 hard seasons it is starting to make a few funny noises.highly reccommended though. I would have thought the 3000 may be a little too small for barbel...

Steve makes a good point. I have just retired my GTM's from barbelling and moved over to Baitrunners as they deal with heavier weights better. Mind you the GTM's are 8 or 9 years old.Cheers Andy
